Designing a Home rather than a House

Hello everyone and welcome back to Styling with Jade, this week I wanted to direct a post to the way houses are being decorated by both professionals and individuals. If you have a quick look online or in magazines you will notice a lot of the images depict set up living spaces that lack a sense of homeliness. I’m a big believer in that you are the only one that can really make your house yours.

So you splash out some money on a professional interior designer you tell them the style you like, your visions for the room and what you expect of the finished product. They work endlessly to create the vision that you had and at the end you love it. A week or two passes and you feel like there’s something missing.

This is exactly what I’m talking about, interior designers are highly talented people that can create a room that you never thought possible. The one problem is there not magic and they don’t have special powers. They can’t read your mind or pick the furniture you’ve been dreaming of for 2 years without you telling them.

In the end you are paying a high amount of money for a quality result so get involved and don’t be afraid to share your ideas. If the person you have hired doesn’t like your input than find someone else. There’s going to be nothing worse than having a finished room that you don’t like or aren’t happy with.

Now it doesn’t just stop there, if you love your home and want it to feel like your space you have to go one step further by adding those little touches yourself. Photos, awards, trophies, sentimental items, books, vases basically anything that means something to you. By adding these items you will make your house into your home that has a showcase of your life.

I just want to say all of this is personal preference, I’m not saying you have to do this but for me I love going to other people’s houses and seeing parts of there memories and life in the place they live. Not only does it give the house character it creates a vibe, this is such and suchs home and not just anyone.

As always thankyou for reading, I appreciate all the support. Also I apologise that this one is a day late I had a few problems with my internet connection. I’ll be back next week on time with a new post for you all to enjoy.
